Who is responsible
ManaScholar Academy is run by Chinnovations, Apollolaan 175 H, 1077 AS Amsterdam, the Netherlands (KvK 91573335). Chinnovations is the controller for the personal data described here, under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Questions or requests: email [email protected].
What we collect and why
When you visit the website
Like every website, ours runs on a server, and our hosting provider records technical details of each visit in its logs: your IP address, the date and time, the page you asked for, and your browser and device type. We need this to deliver the pages and to keep the site secure and working (our legitimate interest, GDPR article 6(1)(f)). The logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, then deleted automatically. We don’t use them to identify you.
When you email us
We use your email address, your name and what you write to answer you: our legitimate interest, or, when it’s about an order, to carry out our agreement with you (article 6(1)(b)). We keep the conversation as long as we need it to help you, and delete it at the latest two years after our last contact, unless it belongs to an order (see below).
When you buy a course
We use:
- your name and email address, to deliver the course and send your order confirmation and access details;
- your country (and address, if you ask for an invoice to it), to charge the right VAT;
- what you bought, the price, the VAT, the order and payment status, and your choice about immediate access (see the terms of sale);
- anything you send us about the order, such as a withdrawal or a complaint.
We need these to carry out the purchase agreement (article 6(1)(b)), and Dutch tax law requires us to keep order and invoice records for seven years (article 6(1)(c)). Without your email address and country we can’t deliver the course or charge the right VAT.
Payments are handled by Mollie B.V., Amsterdam. You enter your payment details on Mollie’s pages, and Mollie processes them as a controller in its own right, under Mollie’s privacy statement. We never see your full card or login details. We receive the payment status and, depending on the payment method, limited details such as the name on the account.
Who we share it with
Only with the parties we need to run the site and the shop:
- DigitalOcean, our hosting provider, which stores and serves the website and the course files from its data center in Amsterdam;
- Resend, which sends our order emails from its servers in Ireland;
- Mollie, for payments;
- our accountant and the Dutch Tax Administration (Belastingdienst), where the law requires it.
Providers that handle data on our behalf may use it only for that, under a data processing agreement. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with advertisers.
If a provider is outside the European Economic Area, we only send data there with the safeguards the GDPR requires, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies. We don’t use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or social media plugins, and our fonts are served from our own site, not from Google. That’s why there is no cookie banner. When you pay, Mollie’s payment pages may use cookies needed for the payment itself; Mollie explains them on its own site.
When you use the training platform, your browser saves your progress there: your rating, the exercises you’ve done, your review schedule, settings and any exercises you write in the editor. It stays on your device (in your browser’s local storage) and is never sent to us. It’s needed for the feature you’re using, so we don’t ask for consent for it. To delete it, use “Start over” on Your progress, or clear this site’s data in your browser.
We make no decisions about you by automated means, and we don’t build profiles.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and only we have access to order and email records.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the personal data we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct it if it’s wrong;
- delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it;
- stop or limit using it, or object to how we use it;
- send it to you or to someone else in a common, machine-readable format.
Email [email protected]. We answer within one month, and may ask you to confirm it’s really you first. It’s free.
Not happy with how we handle your data? Tell us, and we’ll try to put it right. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or the authority in the EU country where you live.
Changes
When we change how we handle personal data, we update this statement and its date. Buying a course is covered by our terms of sale; who we are is on the legal notice.
